Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and was founded by the Romans as a retirement centre for long-serving legionnaires. Sitting on the Mediterranean, in the middle of the Costa Azahar shoreline, and just to the north of the Costa Blanca.

The population had increased by 44% between 1991 and 2001 and the trend is accelerating.
